Liez :O
I tell people what they want to hear most of the time because I am deathly afraid of 1) rejection, and 2) hurting people. It's like against my nature to hurt someone, and if I do I feel guilty forever. I also get very hurt if someone hates me for what I think, even though I know I shouldn't... I'm just a very sensitive person. I've always been that way...

You don't think that lies hurt people? No, wait -- I shouldn't say that because then you'll start to worry about your lies hurting people, and then you won't be able to say anything, good or bad.
ReplyDeleteI understand your sensitivity, because I share it in some ways, and I see it in my wife, as well. But I do believe that people may have their feelings hurt by truth, but you can soften the blow with kindness at the same time better than you can deflect it by lying -- because if you lie, all that happens is the other person learns the truth on their own, and then doesn't trust you and is hurt that you lied to them. So tell the truth, and add on, "But I like your hair!"
