So first being hurt by a freakin rumor is ridiculous. Grow a pair and suck it up. Who cares what someone says about you at school. I can kind of understand if it was someone you really trusted and cared about but then again screw them if they did, I guess they weren't really your friend and anything you had with them doesn't matter anymore. Now lying in general I guess is bad but very necessary sometimes. I like to be truthful and I like having the truth told to me. But lying shouldn't make you feel bad. It's something in human nature. We are not pure.

  1. Well throwing a shitfit over rumors is kinda ridiculous. Apparantly I'm a flamboyant homosexual, but that's just a rumor. Nobody really knows, do they?

  4. That isn't weird, Zombie. Plenty of people like that -- though no one like Patrick, of course. Cynicism is both easy and fun, and often, it is correct and useful, too. Lots of people are realistic and also negative.

Now Pat: Goddamnit, do I really have to deal with America's obsessio with testicles? I am so bloody sick of this "Grow a pair!" nonsense. I admit some of that comes from the fact that I watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Faith is constant in her equating a scrotum with courage and fortitude, and I play Scarface: The World is Yours, which is a thousand times worse -- but I shouldn't have to listen to this from my students. Look, you have testicles: don't you know that they have utterly nothing to do with courage? That your strength, your willopwer, comes from your mind, your convictions, from your nerves, but not from your reproductive organs? Hell, man, you should know that your testicles are probably the least courageous part of your body -- what other part draws up inside you when it feels danger? And how are women supposed to deal with this? Should they feel less brave because they can't "grow a pair?" Or are they supposed to think of that in similar terms, that their courage comes from the size of their ovaries, or maybe their breasts?

Freaking ridiculous. Almost as bad as "Suck it up." What kind of advice is that?

Interesting thought, that lying is something that is part of humanity and nothing to be ashamed of. I would think we are the only animal that can intentionally lie, since we are the only ones who are capable of thinking the way we do. I suppose the issue should be more about the consequences of the lie, rather than the lie itself?

  6. i think that it is wrong that we shouldn't feel badly about lying. sure we're human but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be unhappy about the fact that we did something wrong
