duck, duck, LIE!
so this is a truth vs. lie thing huh? well obviously the truth is going to win on this one because people want to seem like a goodie two-shoes so over popular vote, the the truth will win hands down... but if this was over which one gets used more... the lie would kill the truth. most people care more about saving their own skins if they could get away with lying because no one wants to face the aweful truth. yes the truth is better than the lie but the lie can get you out of a sticky situation for a short period of time.

So what you're saying is, people will lie about preferring the truth? I don't know; I think people probably do tell the truth more than they lie. But I think we remember lies more often and longer than the truths we tell, especially if there are consequences. Because then the consequences get all wrapped up with guilt. Which is funny because I was thinking about consequences being wrapped up metaphorically like a present, and "guilt" is a homophone for "gilt," so now I'm thinking of consequences wrapped up in gold-leaf -- guilted consequences. Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I'd rather face the awful truth. It has been more helpful for me in the past than have lies. Though I hate when people use the truth as a weapon to hurt others -- pointing out that I'm balding or slightly pudgy, for instance. I know these things, and people who say them to me are generally only trying to hurt my feelings -- I don't like that.
Fantastic post title, by the way.
ReplyDeletewhy thank you!
