Lying

I think that lying is bad. There are times when it is socially accepted to lie, ie. "you look great" or "This tastes really good." And I also believe that omitting information is not lying unless someone specifically asks for it. However, most other lies are bad. Even little lies can dig a hole, and then when people find out, they can't trust you anymore. If you have lied once, people know there is always the possibility you will lie again when it really matters. So, I just try not to lie.

  1. Why are the socially accepted lies okay, but not other small lies? Don't you think lying about someone's appearance, or the taste of someone's cooking, can also dig a hole? What if that person keeps asking you? What if he/she uses you to test new recipes on? How long will you keep up the happy shiny facade before you snap and say, "LOOK! YOUR COOKING TASTES LIKE RHINO CRAP MIXED WITH ROTTEN MILLIPEDES! GET IT AWAY FROM ME! AAAAAAA!"

Besides, don't you think it's more fun to tell the truth in the first place?

  2. I think you should be completely honest, not harsh, about whether you like something or not.

  6. Well there is always the possibility that someone can lie weither or not you lie to them. But I think small lies are ok when in the end they won't hurt people.

  7. I think on big scale things that could possibly be life changing, u should be honest. And small lies about different things okay, but to canstantly lie about the same thing over and over is bad.
